here is a video example of running emulator on m2 ssd. so my guess is your emulator isn't fluent, which possibly means there is some problem.
You said your android emulator performance is a way slower than your mac pro. RAM, CPU and other stuff matters too, but i think your ThinkPad is ok in that case.you might had arm or 圆4 installed accidently through your sdk which are slower than x86 (these 2 options have the most impact on you emulator speed) Do you have Intel x86 Emulator Accelerator (HAXM) installed? also you should select an x86 cpu/abi system image when creating your virtual device.
